Planning Application for S-Fix site refused but amended and resubmitted

The planning application for a dwelling on S-Fix site has been refused fir the following reasons:

 1. The application site lies within the designated Green Belt and the open countryside where, under both national and local policy, new dwellings are inappropriate development. Residential development on this site is therefore contrary to the NPPF and Local Plan Policies C17 and H16. The very special circumstances necessary to overcome the presumption against inappropriate development in the Green Belt have not been demonstrated.

 2. The application site is not considered to be a sustainable location for new housing development in that the village of Prestwick does not have an adequate range of services. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy C1 of the Castle Morpeth Local Plan and the NPPF.

3. By virtue of its scale, massing, design and overall appearance, the proposed new dwelling would not result in an acceptable form of development or design in this location and would have a resultant adverse impact upon the visual amenity of the surrounding area. The proposal would therefore be contrary to Policy H15 of the Castle Morpeth Local Plan, and the provisions of the National Planning Policy Framework

Roadside hedge well cut

The roadside hedge on Prestwick road has been cut by the Airport company. It is a very good job, well cut, no mess left and cut around street signs with no damage to signs. Other hedge cutting contractors could learn a lesson here.

A seat - but what a pity an opportunity was missed!

Thanks to Town Council for arranging for this seat to be sited on the village Green.

BUT (sorry there is always a BUT!)  What a pity the Council Tax payers had to pay for it. There are donzens of local residents who would have liked to pay for the seat in memory of a loved one!

Does this work have planning permission?

A section of the Prestwick Carr drainage system has recently been piped and incorporated in the garden adjacent to the Prestwick to Dinnington road near its junction with the Carr road.

The drain was dug in the 1850's as part of the Prestwick Carr Enclosure Act and was maintained by the Prestwick Carr Internal Drainage Board (PCIDB) until it was taken over by the then River Authority (now Environment Agency) in the 1960's.

It would appear that a section of the Carr Drainage system was not declared "Main River" at the time of the demise of the PCIDB but never the less the 1860 Enclosure Act will ensure the status of the drain.
The Prestwick to Dinnington Road is already subjected to regular flooding in close proximity and it is hoped that the works do not exasperate the problem.

Charlton Todd consults Dinnington Policeman

Prestwick chapel minute book records that .........................

In January 1910 Mr. Charlton Todd appointed as Secretary and Steward and the it was evident that there was some concern over the behaviour of the children as the minutes of the meeting include: “ Complaint having been made of the bad conduct of the young people in Prestwick in disturbing the services, it was decided that the secretary should see the Dinnington policeman and ask him to give some oversight to the chapel, particularly on Sundays”

Eight new Trustees were appointed on 17th January 1910 following the death of a number of existing trustees including James Stobert {Miller}. None of the new Trustees resided in Prestwick  but they included farmer, Joseph Stobbs of Carr Grange, Mason and Charlton Todd a Colliery Banksman of High Luddick.

Who's responsible?

The lights stay on at Prestwick Road Ends?

The electricity supply company continue to do temporary works. I suppose that permanent works will not be carried out until the responsible body is identified. Is it the electricity company? The landowner? The mining company?

No doubt Company Directors will pocket profits and in the long run you and I will pay for the works as tax payers/council tax payer/customers.
